OF AN EXTRAORDINARY NATURE

The Calatrava la Vieja fortress site hosted numerous people who gave testimony at the VII Chapter of the Order of the Guardian Knights of Calatrava la Vieja, where the induction of new knights and the imposition of the Silver Cross, the red distinctive mark of the Order, took place.

In a unique ceremony, the following individuals were knighted: Dr. José Cabrera Forneiro; Alexia Cué Palomo; Francisco Javier Tébar Massó; María Ramona Molina Pina; Francisco Jódar Alonso; Emilio Yébenes Hervás; Manuel Jiménez Raya; Ana María Bonilla Muñoz; María Dolores Moreno Meseguer; María P.; José Egea Celdrán; Rocío Arroyo Collado; Álvaro Francisco Sena de la Paz; David Torres del Alcázar; Luis Antonio Torres del Alcázar; José Crespo García; and Jesús Sánchez-Herrera Cabañas.

Awarded the Silver Cross with red distinction of the Order of the Knights Custodians of Calatrava la Vieja


Among those distinguished with the Silver Cross with red distinction of the Order of the Knights Custodians of Calatrava la Vieja are the historian and documentary filmmaker Alfonso Arteseros; the writer, journalist, historian and filmmaker José María Zavala; María Dolores Rocío Álvarez, doctor of pharmacy and the first woman in Spain to have developed successful studies on immunology; the sculptor Antonio Soler and the writer and journalist Juan Tomas Frutos. Also receiving this distinction are the author of the patent against animal tuberculosis, Pedro Fernández Llario, and the siblings from Carrión de Calatrava, prestigious international athletes Juan Antonio and María José Pérez Moreno; to Jorge Manuel Rodríguez Almenar, professor of Civil Law and president of the Sindonology Center of Valencia, posthumously to Father Fray Laurentino Sáenz de Buruaga, for his work at the head of the Choir School as well as Schola Antiqua and the Abbey of the Holy Cross of the Valley of the Fallen, as well as to the Virgen del Alcázar Hospital of Lorca, a reference in health care classified in level Group IV level IA, to the founders of the local company Carpintería-Ebanistería Martín Villanueva “Marvi”, and to the Bikers for ALS association, for their dignified and tireless fight giving visibility to the disease “Amyotrophic Lateral Sclerosis (ALS) and those who suffer from it.
